The Sleep Centre, a leading bed retailer, wanted a website that would help them stand out in the crowded online market. I devised an approach that focused on their unique selling point - the fact they are a local, family run business - differentiating them in a world where corporate stores dominate. The use of illustration and CSS ensures the site is both approachable and memorable. The site is built on an e-commerce script which has been heavily modified to fit the bespoke needs of the Sleep Centre. The site features an easy to use content management system and integrated payments with PayPal.

Based on the idea that in order to create and establish a successful online forum you have to be interested in the subject matter, I set about proving this concept wrong. I chose a subject I knew very little about, chess, and created an online community based on vBulletin forum software, the site reached 800 members in under 6 months at which point I felt it best to pass the reigns onto a new owner. The logo design, and site development was all completed by myself, together with site promotion and marketing. ChessForums is still going strong with over 1000 members in the community.

Logo & Print Design Concepts - Pro-Fit

  • Date: 15/04/2007

For this University project we were required to work with another student to produce a press pack for a new Adidas product, given the fictional name Pro-Fit. Working in association with Gary Fryatt we produced a press invitation with pull back strips to reveal the invitation and details, along with a promotional DVD in a limited edition metal case. The concept of our design and branding was to focus on the three benefits of the product whilst maintaining the Adidas brand image.

The project was assessed by two senior designers from London studios, we went on to jointly win the competition (and a bottle of champagne!) gaining a 95% mark.
